This project transformed a former residential staff quarters into a bright, safe, and inspiring pre-nursery for young children. The building was carefully reconfigured and extended to meet the specific needs of early years education, while complying with modern safety and building standards.

A rear extension was added to provide valuable additional space and storage, while a new front extension created dedicated indoor learning and activity areas designed to support play, creativity, and development.

Key infrastructure upgrades included the installation of a new pump station to recycle rainwater, alongside new ducting and drainage to support CCTV and essential building services. A dry, covered outdoor play area was created to allow year-round use, including a dedicated messy play zone.

Child safety and sensory development were central to the design, with recycled rubber flooring installed throughout play areas and a carefully selected palette of sensory colours to create a welcoming, stimulating environment.

The completed pre-nursery is a functional, future-ready space—thoughtfully designed, robustly built, and perfectly suited to its new purpose.
